Yusuf Maart Club Career

Orlando Pirates

Maart was born in Cape Town, but he spent much of his childhood at Atlantis.

After being selected player of the tournament in that year’s SAB U-21 national championships, he was looked at by scouts from Orlando Pirates, who were interested in signing him.

He started out with the club’s reserve squad, but on March 12, 2017, he made his debut with the main team when he came on as a substitute in their Nedbank Cup match against EC Bees and they won 3–1.

Later on in that season, he made his debut in the league coming off the bench in a loss to Lamontville Golden Arrows by a score of 2–1 on May 27, 2017.

Maart was on loan with Cape Umoya United for the 2018–19 season. During that time, he played in 16 league matches and scored once.

In the summer of 2020, Pirates officially let him go.

Sekhukhune United

After being released by Pirates, Maart signed with Sekhukhune United, which plays in the National First Division.

During that season, he made a total of 28 appearances in the league and scored three goals, which contributed significantly to the club’s elevation to the South African Premier Division.

Yusuf Maart International Career

Maart has been selected to represent South Africa at the 2021 COSAFA Cup after being given a call-up to the national team squad.

On July 16, 2021, he scored his first goal for his country in a COSAFA Cup semi-final victory against Mozambique. The next day, he participated in the final as Maart won the tournament after a 6–5 penalty shoot-out triumph over Senegal.
