The Fox International Fellowships is a graduate student exchange program between Yale and 19 world well-known partner universities. Fox International Fellows are selected for their potential to grow into leaders in fields that are policy significant, historically educated, and socially meaningful..

Eligibility for Yale Fox International Fellowships at Yale University
Graduate level students pursuing PhD or MSc level degrees and graduating master’s level students are qualified. Graduating bachelors’ level students of unusual merit and distinction may be considered but advanced, graduate level students are preferred. The Fox Fellowship is NOT accessible to postdoctoral candidates and foreign student proposing projects in their home country are NOT eligible.
Personal characteristics: The candidate must show commitment to serious research and also capacity for leadership and civic engagement in the larger community. The candidate visibly understands and has shown obligation to being a “citizen ambassador.”
Strength of academic achievement: The applicant must show excellence in relevant coursework as well as solid evidence of research ability in the field of endeavor they are proposing as their Fox Fellowship project.
Field of focus: A solid and specific research project with a focus in international relations and global affairs, environmental policy, public health, business and finance, social sciences, economics, political science, law, and contemporary history, with preference for topics of contemporary, applied and/or institutional relevance to enhancing the world’s peace and prosperity. The candidate’s whole program of studies or degree may come from different fields and departments so far as their project centers on one or more of these fields.
Language skills: The applicant’s language skills have to be satisfactory both to succeed in their research project and to engage in the intellectual and social community of the host university and their colleagues in the Fellowship. Prospective scholars for Fox Fellowships at Yale University have to provide latest TOEFL or IELTS scores showing proficiency in English conversation, reading and writing. This requirement is waived only for candidates from partner institutions where English is the primary language of instruction.
The Yale Fox Fellowship selection board makes the final decision based on the following criteria:

● Character and demonstrated leadership potential
● Show personal commitment to being a “citizen ambassador”
Number of Awardees: Yearly, at least one student from each Fox exchange partner takes up residency at Yale, and at least one Yale student goes to each partner.
