According to the IUCN Red List, there are most likely fewer than 110 Caféier de Humblot plants still existing in the wild, and their population is continuing to dwindle.

Near the communities of Temisas, Barranco de la Cruz-Lomo del Chorrillo, Fortaleza Grande, Risco del Sao, and Risco Gallegos-Amurga, it is estimated that there are only about 93 unique Pimentero de Temisas plants growing in the wild.
The Pimentero de Temisas is fortunate in that it is a protected species and is included in both the National Catalogue of Endangered Species and the Catalogue of Protected Species of the Canary Islands.

The number of mature Sardinian Currant plants is estimated to be around 80, but this number has varied throughout the years.
The most recent data available is from 2017, and it shows that there are approximately 80 mature Sardinian Currant plants.
The Sardinian Currant was once more common in the boreal zone; however, it is now considered a relict species because it can only be found in one site.
The uncontrolled grazing of the Sardinian Currant by wild animals such as mouflons (wild sheep) and wild goats is the most significant danger to this species.
