Following the first acquisition of Caustic Window from Discogs, a Kickstarter effort was started in order to obtain a digital copy of the album and have it made available for purchase. After that, the record was made available for purchase.

It is the CD that John Lennon autographed for his assassin, Mark David Chapman, only a few hours before John Lennon was killed. Chapman had hidden the record just outside of Lennon’s apartment building, and sometime later, an unknown person discovered it and gave it to the police as proof.
Chapman was later arrested for the crime. Following the conclusion of the investigation, the album was given back to the individual who had purchased it in 1999 for the price of $150,000.
The notorious album was put up for auction once more in 2010, and according to rumors, it brought around $850,000; however, this was never verified.
In November 2020, the signed record will be put up for auction once more, this time with a starting price of $400,000 USD. At the time that this article was written, the auction had not yet come to an end.
