Since AmaZulu parted company with Benni McCarthy in March, the club has put Brandon Truter in charge of the squad as their interim coach to see them through the remainder of the campaign.
After managing the Durban-based side to a record of three wins, three draws, and only one loss over seven matches, Truter has been assigned the duty of coaching the squad on a permanent basis moving forward into the upcoming season.
Phumlani Dube, AmaZulu’s community relations officer, has announced to the media that the mentor, who was born in Cape Town, has been promoted to the position of head coach for the squad.
The confirmation came from Dube, who stated, “I can confirm that Brandon Truter has been formally hired as the head coach of AmaZulu FC.”
“It is important to keep in mind that Truter was first seen at Usuthu in the most recent few months after the team severed its links with Benni McCarthy, who had served as the head coach in the previous incarnation of the club. As a result of Truter’s strong performance since he took over, the club has come to the conclusion that he is the most qualified candidate for the position. It has been decided that he will be our point man for the upcoming season, which is slated to begin in the month of August.
I wouldn’t discuss the specifics of the deal or how long it is, but I can confirm that Truter will be AmaZulu’s head coach,” he continued. “The contract has been finalized, but I wouldn’t divulge the specifics of it or how long it is.”

Born in Roodepoort on July 30, 1970, Eric Tinkler is currently Maritzburg United’s manager. Maritzburg United is a football club that competes in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL). He has come through the ranks and was described as a ‘skillful mid{elder’ in his playing days. He was an integral member of the South African national team, where he made 45 appearances and scored a solitary goal. Eric was also a part of the Bafana Bafana squad that won the African Cup of Nations in 1996.
His club career saw him venture to Europe and playing for the Portuguese side, Vitória, from 1992 to 1996.
