Denis Onyango Salary at Mamelodi Sundowns 2024: Denis Onyango is a professional footballer from Uganda who now represents Mamelodi Sundowns. He is a professional footballer who has represented Uganda, Ethiopia, and South Africa. Onyango is also a former goalkeeper and captain for the Uganda Cranes.
Denis Onyango was born in Kampala, Uganda, on May 15, 1985.
After starting his career in his home country, Onyango went on to play for Supersport United, Mpumalanga Black Aces, and Mamelodi Sundowns in the South African Premier Soccer League. He won the 2016 CAF Champions League and played in the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup with Mamelodi Sundowns. He was selected the 2016 African Player of the Year based in Africa. In a list prepared by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics for 2016, he was ranked as the tenth best goalkeeper in the world.
He captained Uganda at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations before retiring from international duty in 2021.

In the 2015–16 season, Onyango won the PSL Goalkeeper of the Season title (best player in South Africa’s premier division) after keeping 14 clean sheets as Sundowns set a new club record with 71 points.
At the CAF Awards in Nigeria on January 5, 2017, he was named the 2016 African-based African Player of the Year.
He received 252 votes in the end, compared to 228 votes for second place Khama Billiat.
Denis Onyango International career
Onyango made his international debut for Uganda against Cape Verde in a World Cup qualifying match on June 18, 2005. Onyango became a regular for the Cranes after that.
By surrendering only two goals in six matches in their qualification group, Onyango helped the Cranes qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
He made his debut in the Africa Cup of Nations in the 31st edition, which Gabon hosted from January 14 to February 5, 2017.
In April 2017, he was named captain of the national team.
After Uganda failed to qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, Onyango confirmed his international retirement on April 12, 2021.
