Bernard Parker Early life

Parker was born and raised in Reiger Park, a township adjacent to Boksburg in the province of Gauteng. Short and long-distance running were among his favorite activities, and he also represented Eastern Gauteng in swimming, earning him the title of Eastern Gauteng Champion in the process.

Bernard Parker Club career

Parker, a product of the School of Excellence, made his professional debut for Hellenic FC in Cape Town, which was eventually purchased and renamed Benoni Premier United. His contract with Thanda Royal Zulu F.C. was terminated in early 2009 as the club was renamed and relocated to Durban. He then joined European Cup Winners Red Star Belgrade in Serbia. His time in Belgrade was cut short as allegations surfaced that the club was experiencing cash flow issues and was owing its players’ wages.

Parker joined FC Twente in July 2009 and was a member of the club that won the Eredivisie title in the 2009–10 season in the Netherlands. In the aftermath of former Twente manager Steve McClaren’s transfer to the Bundesliga, Parker was unable to persuade new coach Michel Preud’homme of his abilities, and he spent the first half of the 2010–11 Dutch season primarily on the bench. In December 2010, he went on trial with Leicester City with the intention of making a permanent move away from his previous club, FC Twente. His loan to Panserraikos F.C. was completed on 18 January 2011, allowing him to gain more playing experience. He returned to FC Twente at the conclusion of the 2010–2011 season.
